The above Bolt-Through-The-Glass Brackets cost more than Minibrackets or U-Channel because of the hole in the glass mainly. We generally specify a notch for these so that there is less chance of the glass hitting the mounting screw. These brackets are generally around 2' x 2" in size. There is a bracket that matches Geneva Hinges in size, See Photo: 1068
The minibrackets below are less than half the size and cost of the above. They do not clamp down on the glass so the glass must be set in place and then siliconed. If there is a glass to glass hinge involved the silicone must dry for one to two days before the door can be mounted. Minibrackets give you the bracket look with the price of U-Channel.
U-Channel has the advantage of hiding the silicone completely. The silicone we sell has a mildew resistant additive but it can be difficult to get a perfect silicone job. Another advantage is that some errors can be hidden, measuring is not as critical, and its easier to get things to line up. If you have a knee wall, then cutting the little pieces of U-Channel to fit is not fun. Some people like U-Channel some feel that it is too reminiscent of a framed shower. Here's another page of words and photos.
